Its official - Im an orem girl. It has now been over a week up here and Id say Im pretty settled in. I know how to get to all my "go-to" places without using maps, I feel more comfortable with my roommates and its actually been pretty warm this week so the weather hasn't been too bad, but it is supposed to snow this week so wish me luck. This week was my first week of school!! second semester has begun... but I don't feel like it. I have two classes - med surg which is somewhat intense and mental health which so far is non existent. Cant complain. I also started institute this week. Im taking a world religions class and its super interesting. so far not really spiritual just learning about other cultures which I enjoy. This week I met lots of new people, got invited to st. george for the weekend hah but kindly declined, cleaned my apartment and my roommate asked "what are you doing?" (its obvious they don't know what cleaning is), went to nickel city, went to the gym with shawnee a lot, watched lots of movies, went to lunch in draper with a Europe friend and even went on a hike! I forget what the hike is called but its up in Pleasant Grove. I wasnt sure if I was going to be able to do it, but that morning I woke up and felt decent so I decided to go for it. I figured I could always turn back early if I started hurting. Luckily the first 3-4 miles is all up hill which saved me. So we had a group of a ton of random friends and headed up the mountain.
Lots of snow, mud and ice - made things way more fun.
Seriously a beautiful day.
At the top of the trail it opens up into this huge meadow full of snow. Made me wish we had snow mobiles up there!
We may be best friends but we never have pictures together.
Neither of us are serious enough to take a normal picture obviously.
One of the waterfalls we hiked to.
mud fight
This is how we spent most of the down hill portion. Whether we meant to be on our butts or just slipping and falling on our butts. I was super careful to not fall because I didnt want to injure myself worse so I was one of the lucky ones that didnt have a wipe out. My body only started hurting the last couple miles... downhill tends to hurt it the most. Some of you may be thinking "you're stupid for hiking 10 miles" but I was told I need to get my body moving even if it does hurt so my joint has movement. Im good y'all, just really super sore today hahah. It felt so good to get out though. It has been so long since a saturday adventure hike/ long run and I miss it! Grateful for the people in my life, the chance I have to go to school and the support my family gives me. Oh hold up, one last thing... so yes I like where I live, but holy moly especially on the weekends it is not my cup of tea. This place is party central every night, but really on friday and saturdays. So last night I was leaving the building and the stairwell had throw up in it (ew I can still smell it I swear) and as I was heading to my car a bunch of drunk kids in the hallways were being super obnoxious. I had to walk past them and one of the guys lays down on the floor and says "you have to jump over me" I silently stepped over him and just kept walking, but ya not my cup of tea. I like having fun, but definitely not the way these people have fun. Love y'all.
P.S. definitely still not Orem girl, just closer than I was last week. Id rather be a STG girl anyways.
