So as all y'all know - I graduated. Honestly yeah school sucked the last couple of months, but really it was chill the rest of the time. Like yes, it was a big deal to graduate, but also it really wasnt. I was simply just trudging along doing something (school) that Ive done really my whole life. So I wasnt expecting anything from graduating. I was really just happy to be done, but my parentals are the best and asked me a couple months ago if I would want money or a trip for graduation. Pretty stupid question if you ask me... so we ended up in mexico! They recently bought this whole package thing with Hyatt so we stayed at one of their all inclusives and tbh I wasnt like overly excited about it because of the last all inclusive experience we had in Mexico BUT this place was actually my favorite. 9/10 spot. already want to go back, that's for sure. Ok... lets dive in...

I mean I guess I'll start at the beginning - I met up with my parents in the Dallas airport then we headed on over to Cozumel and I took a much needed nap.
The first day was just checking in and exploring the resort. Dinner was at Olio a Mediterranean place.
The view and why mom and dad are squinting in the picture above.

Saturday morning we started off the day swimming at the beach. We snorkeled around the 3 foot deep ocean haha. As I was swimming back to the beach my foot started hurting pretty bad. It didn't let up. I kept looking at my foot, but nothing looked wrong I just had this pretty intense burning sharp nerve pain. Once I got back to the beach I googled it and we thing I must've brushed up on or stepped on some fire coral. Well I kind of just dealt with it for awhile. Luckily it didn't bother me while scuba diving that afternoon. YES - we went diving!! We did a quick "refresher course" since I hadn't dived since 2020 when I was certified and it's been about 3 years for dad. Well we laughed because our "refresher course" was a quick 5 minute discussion on the boat and then we literally just jumped in and dove to like 60 feet. It was a blast. We dove twice on Saturday and the reef was unreal. So much life and I had forgot how freaking fun scuba diving is. We saw a couple nurse sharks, stingrays, lobster, crab and puffer fish.

Such a fun afternoon - so luckily I didn't notice my hurting foot while 60 feet under, but the pain picked back up on the boat and once we got back to the hotel room. SO we googled how to treat it. The recommendations were to soak it in vinegar or alcohol. Well no vinegar, but we were at an all inclusive resort swimming in alcohol. Our room happened to have some beer, rum and wine in the fridge and on the tables so I emptied the bottle of bacardi which had the greatest percentage of alcohol in it (40%) and I soaked my foot in it - all better haha. I guess alcohol is good for a few things. That night I believe we went to gohan for dinner which was my favorite of the restaurants.

Sunday was our spa day - we started out by going to the gym then hitting up the contrast therapy and ending with a massage. The only reason this resort is a 9/10 and not a 10/10 because of their sauna/cold plunge set up. We were being bossed around for an hour and forced into cold showers and steam rooms from hell (as mom would say) haha. It was kind of hilarious though. Mom and I were forced to do this water therapy where jets and waterfalls would in a way "massage" you. It was awful to the point we were just laughing at each other. Then we finally made it to the hot tub after all the water obstacles. Dad was able to do a little more of what he wanted, but still agrees that it was kind of a lame process.
Boujie cucumber water
The spa sure was pretty though
squad goals
Me post massage plus my sunburn. Still a nice day at the spa.
boujie part 2
I think that night for dinner we got horrendous room service. We learned our lesson.
Monday was back in this beautiful water
dad chillin on the dive boat
This day we were weaving in and out of the reef. All the little nooks and crannies and caves and it was epic.
These were all taken on my janky GoPro. I learned real quick that you need to put a case on your GoPro before diving because due to the pressure at 60+ feet under the button on my GoPro was forever held down so it was just taking picture after picture. Over 4000 photos later these are the ones that actually turned out ahaha. The professional photos we paid for I'll put at the end of the blog - they're sick.
After a morning of diving we hit up the buffet for lunch. I think I had this for lunch every single day. Beans and rice with lime just hit.
We also got front row seats to the process of iguanas making sweet love. It was gnarly. I was feeding this iguana for a while before we noticed another one starting to make his way over. At first we just thought he was angry that this lizard was getting all the food. We later realized I was feeding a female iguana and the other one was a male... He started fighting her, biting her and what look like straight attacking her. but no I guess that's just part of the process because then we watched him get on top of her and you know what came after that. It was literally wild. Whether we were admiring the ocean life or observing the iguanas - we saw a lot of wildlife haha. SO this iguana pictured above will most likely have a litter of babies here in the next little bit. congrats mama.

At some point in the trip the resort people decorated our room and made a little dessert with a picture of me on it congratulating me for graduating. so cute haha. My mom didn't have a pic of me I guess so she gave them the picture of me and Gabriel skydiving last summer. So Gabriel is part of this celebration too haha.
The rest of Monday and tuesday were spent by the pool, snorkeling and drinking lots of margaritas. I consumed at least three a day I think. So delicious.
I snorkeled down by the other Hyatt resort to hopefully avoid another fire coal incident and actually spotted the cutest little camouflaged stingray next to a giant starfish. Then I spotted a lion fish too. This just reinforces my need to live by the water. Also the humidity was so freaking nice. My skin was very very happy. Overall just very nice enjoying the warmth and sunshine. Thank you Mom and Dad for a fun grad trip. Honestly was one of my fav trips. A good balancing of relaxing and doing fun stuff.
Wednesday morning we laid out after breakfast and enjoyed the last bit of happiness before packing up and heading home. Oh and one last margarita. I should've counted how many I had. And 24 hours later this was me...
Back to be cold and depressed. Really questioning life decisions when I have to go back to"home" to 17 degrees and snowing. Anyways we obviously made it back safely and it was the best week with the parents. Now for the rest of the fun scuba pics to end on a happy note...
My fav pic
So beautiful. I love the big deep scary ocean. Alright Mexico has officially redeemed itself in my book and I would go back tomorrow if I could.
