What's summer without a country concert??

Howdy! This week has been a BUSY one. I think I say that every week - you know I love being busy, but I could use a little break right now that's for sure. I think it's funny because before this term of NP school I was still pretty hesitant on the thought of graduating. I figured it's just easier to stay where Im at and not move on. BUT Im to the point now in school where Im over it and the finish line is getting so dang close that now I really want to graduate. I want it to come right now! Still scary, but let's do this. Anyways - Monday was a clinic shift day and PDAY! our first time talking to jack since he has been in Africa.

(Just now realizing I wrote about this last week, whoops so important you can read it again)

He seems to be doing well - he says he likes his companion and has been able to teach a couple lessons. He's in a place called Komani (I think) and is still speaking English, but also a click dialect called Xhosa. From what I heard he's actually pretty good at it. Well let's just say he was saying things I couldn't do with my mouth so good work jack. All that matters is he's alive and doing Ok. Homesick, but ok.

Tuesday was another day at the clinic. My body needed a little TLC so I was planning to go to Fika (my cold plunge/sauna place). I actually enjoy going alone, but I thought about Ashley that night and luckily she was free. It was a much needed night of self care and chit chat therapy.

Wednesday was a work day but that night was summer I turned pretty night. It's a show that has a new episode every Wednesday so it's me and Madi's weekly girls night. This episode made both of us cry haha. Im not one to just willy-nilly do things after work and school that make me sacrifice my alone time and sleep. But this week I sacrificed a lot of sleep to hang out with my friends and I would say it was worth it. It may be biting me in the butt now (Im sick), but it made this week more fun rather than just school and work.

Thursday was another clinic day and yet another night spent with Madi - woohoo two nights in a row! The end of last year I showed Madi this new country artist named Zach Top. He's a cute young country singer, but sings more old school sounding country and I love him. Madi ended up loving him too. She found tickets for a Dierks Bentley concert that he was opening for so we immediately booked the tickets. I think they were only like 50 bucks so that was a no brainer - plus dierks Bentley is a good artist too so I thought why the heck not. Thursday night was the concert - Madi is a concert guru so she knows the ropes, especially at USANA (the venue we were at). We got there when the doors opened at 5:30pm and set our blanket out on a good spot on the grass.

We walked around, looked at merch, took some Photo Booth pictures ^

Grabbed some corndogs for dinner, listened to country music play in the speakers and enjoyed a nice afternoon/evening

There was an opening band called the band Loula, then Zach Top! I enjoyed every minute of standing there (killing my back) singing his songs at the top of my lungs. After every song he would say in his twangy voice "Thank you very much" haha. It was cute. Dierks Bentley came on afterwards and put on one heck of a show. That guy is more of a comedian and actor than a singer (good singer though too).

Obviously all I have are some selfies of us while the rest of my camera roll is just crazy videos from this night. Anyways - midway through the concert Dierks says something like "I know this famous Utah singer, and I know he even likes one of my songs" My jaw dropped and I immediately thought he was going to bring out post Malone. He then goes on to say "Too bad he's not here" An audible sigh goes over the crowd then what do ya know?? freaking post Malone comes out and sings a song with Dierks. It was awesome.

This is my face during the encore - it was crazy. So as most concerts go the singer leaves the stage then has one or two more songs to perform. Ya no Dierks Bentley does things a little different. Madi had warned me that this concert is wild and I wasnt sure what could be so wild about a country artist to the point of her mentioning it multiple times. Well Dierks' encore is called Hot Country Knights and it's pretty much the band coming back on stage in 90s rocker/pop outfits and singing old school country. For the final song of the night he brought out Zach top and Posty and they all performed "sold" one of my favorite songs for a lot of reasons. Ya know watching Post Malone perform Sold in booty jean shorts was not on my 2025 bingo card, but Im glad I was there to experience it. Definitely a concert Erin would've loved and maybe she did love from above, but would've been cool to have her there with me. Unlike any concert Ive been too or anything I thought I was walking into. Its hard to describe if you weren't there, but when the "hot country knights" encore started I turned to Madi and said "I feel like Im tripping on lsd or something" (not that Ive ever done drugs) but it felt like a weird dream. y'all won't get it, but a very very fun concert at that and a way fun night worthy of calling out of work the next day due to my back aching so bad.

My ears were so muffled and my voice sounded like I smoked a pack a day - I guess that's the definition of a good concert. Fun times were had and Im still so stoked we paid 50 bucks and saw all three of those guys. crazy.

That brings me to Saturday and Sunday. I did call out Friday from work and stayed home to write some papers, laundry and clean. Then today and yesterday was work and work. Saturday I woke up with a sore throat and today is sore throat with a gunky cough, so Im praying I feel better tomorrow so that I can see some patients in clinic. Definitely putting my body through the wringer, but it has done a pretty good job at not getting sick this year so hopefully this blows over. Because ya girl don't have time to be sick!! Anyways - I don't have much time for anything else which speaking of... I need to go to bed! Goodnight and happy Sunday!
