Jack strap
Holy smokes, this week seems like it was a million years long! In a good way though, it was a good week, lots just happened. SO let's begin with Monday! I believe I did homework, ran and had to get a chip in my windshield fixed (fun adult things). Ended the evening with dinner and treats with Jesse.
We had dinner at Five Star BBQ and then grabbed some frozen treats in alpine at Burgess Orchard. My apple cider glacier was delish.
Headed back to her place to watch a show then ended the night shopping for our halloween costume...
Jesse forgot her shoes and I happened to have snow boots in the back of my car so she strutted her stuff around the mall in a workout fit and snow boots. Iconic. There was this one lady who stared down Jess hardcore with the stankiest of stank eyes. We busted up laughing. We are pretty stoked about our costumes so stay tuned for an epic halloween.
Tuesday brought a very short day of work due to a stress migraine. Except I didn't know it was a migraine at the time. It was about 11:30am and I was trying to look at my computer to see how many units of insulin to give my patient. For some reason I couldn't see the computer. There were some parts of my vision that were just gone. I put my hand in front of my face to verify it wasnt just the screen wigging out and yeah I couldn't see parts of my hand. I kept trying to work through it but about 10 minutes later I went up to a co-worker and had my hand to the right side of my face asking if I should be able to see my hand (I couldn't see it). My friend immediately took the situation very seriously getting my managers involved. They checked my eyes. They were still reactive, but my right pupil was larger than my left. So I was escorted by Sarah to the Moran Eye center across the street at the U. It was three hours of waiting and many eye tests, eye drops, etc. to be told it was a migraine. The headache did finally kick in while getting my eyes checked but I think it was all the bright lights and people stabbing stuff in my eyeballs. SO after all that I honestly felt fine, but my eyes were dilated and I felt super dizzy and tired so I just went home early from work. I was able to nap off the dilated eyes. Still had a migraine, but some excedrin does the trick. I was able to look at screens enough to get some homework done that night. The next morning I still had a pretty good migraine, but went to work anyways with some meds. Luckily it went away later that morning and the work day was good.
Wednesday and Thursday was skills day at the hospital. Which means everyone meets in the gym whenever they can throughout the day to relearn certain skills or to get mandatory education credits. This is me and my health tech Carolee. We went and did our yearly PMDB training which is training on how to safely get out of situations where patients attack you haha. Super good stuff.
Also did my recertification of BLS (I do it every three months) plus my annual exam. I aced my exam which I was honestly stoked on. A fun week of learning new things and catching up on all needed education requirements. Can't complain about work this week - except tons of people were sick this week so Im not excited for the winter sniffles to hit. And Im hoping we don't have to wear masks :/
Thursday I sped home after work and Friday morning Mom and I headed to California for a little girls weekend and Jacks XC meet. There is a little donut and pizza shop in Vegas that I found on instagram that I wanted to try so we stopped for lunch at Saint Honore. It was a 7/10. Donuts are good, but we got way too many. I think we ate a half of one and two bites of two others.
Once we got to our hotel we chilled for a little bit before heading out for a late night at Knotts Scary Farm!!
We splurged and got fast pass tickets without knowing they didn't include admission to the park?!?! What the freak! so we thought 350$ was expensive for two tickets, but then we had to pay another 120$ at the gate so yeehaw. A very expensive night, but a very fun one filled with no wait times, lots of haunted mazes, scares and tons of rides.
We lasted from 7 till midnight which was pretty good for us early to bed people.
Random picture we sent dad as we were about to ride Ghostrider. Best ride at Knotts. I converted mom to it and it was almost the highlight of the trip. We slept real nice and good this night that's for sure. Saturday was a fairly lazy day. We did a little bit of shopping and really just lounging around. I took a good nap and then headed to BJs for dinner!
So full we just shared a mini. Can't go here and NOT get a pizookie, I mean c'mon!
After dinner we headed to the Great Park where the Woodbridge Classic was happening. It was fun to show mom around this meet and to reminisce on the good ole days of this epic meet. Jack went into this meet with the goal of first on the team and a time of 14:45.
The boys made it into the sweepstakes race (the fastest boys heat and the last race of the night) and the atmosphere was pretty wild. National records were hit, spectators were running around like crazy and Jack hit a PR of 1:20 seconds. yeah, you read that right. one minute and 20 seconds. for a time of 14:51 three mile and placed second on the team by .1. Jackie led the race for his team and Logan finished just ahead of him. Both finishing at around the 100th overall mark and earning themselves a medal in the fast heat. Pretty impressive.
Jackie is a happy boy. More stats: Jack has now the 7th fastest three mile time in desert hills history which puts him making the overall varsity team. Desert Hills boys also had the second best spread at Woodbridge with all seven boys being only 37 seconds apart.
It was fun as always watching the boys race. We are getting into the championship part of the season now with only one race left before regionals, divisionals and then state! Exciting stuff. Another good nights sleep after all that and waking up to an uneventful drive home. A fun weekend. Grateful mom wanted to party with me in California for a little bit. Now I gotta get some more homework done. Peace! Oh and I guess I should mention the title of this blog - last year Jack was tripped and ended up falling and losing his glasses. Well coach made sure that wasnt going to happen again this year so he bought jack a glasses strap. I made a joke about calling them his Jack strap and some people laughed and it stuck haha. so cheers to the jack strap. I think jack mentioned they were a good luck charm and he'll continue to wear it in future races haha. good stuff.
