play, work, play
Ive been slacking, I know. As the title says... life hasn't had much work life balance recently. It has been nonstop play or nonstop work. So to take it back a couple weeks ago Jackie and his team came up north for the BYU invitational. Jackie is consistent with his racing which meant no PR. I think most of the boys are just getting tired of this season which definitely happens. It was fun hanging with jack though - we went to lunch on Friday and after his Saturday morning race we headed south back home
He left me hanging the entire way home, but that's ok. I was able to spend the next few days in St. George. Same ole same ole laying out by the pool and hanging out with family. I headed back up north on Wednesday to get back to work Thursday. In the next eight days I would be working 7 of those days with Monday off for a little break. So yes, straight up had a week off to then work a straight week on. My first four days of work (thurs-sun) were actually pretty slow which was a blessing. I got a lot of homework done and was able to chill for the first half of my busy week. The next few days of work were full of charging, calling a rapid response, and more busy discharge/admission days but everything was still good. Nothing to complain about. It was recently "nurses week" so the VA rented a couple massage chairs that me and a coworker were able to schedule ourselves an appointment
the ghetto sheet for easy clean up haha. I wouldn't say it was that great of a massage but it was a free 30min away from work so I'll take it. Friday morning my parents drove up and we were all able to watch Jack and his buddies run at state
First on the docket for Friday morning is the dreaded 3200m. Jack and I are one and the same - this aint our favorite race. It's 8 laps of suckiness. Well no one on his team did fantastic, but they got the job done.
It was a great few days for racing - that afternoon we spent some time at lunch (red taco), shopping around the mall, Costco and checking into the hotel. We returned to the track that late afternoon for the 4x800. Jack, Jack H., George and Tucker put on a freaking awesome race. They were in the slower of the two heats, but they won! And with their time of 8:18 beat out a few of the fast heat teams to score 7th overall. We were cheering for them like crazy and it was awesome to watch them all keep that first place spot. Saturday morning was the final race for Jackie - the 1600m. Ended up with a 4:37. He isn't too happy about it, but he isn't mad either. Like I said - I think all the boys are just ready for their two week break and to get their heads in the game for xc.
The whole fam-damily was there cheering Jackie on and it sure was a fun weekend.
Snagged a pic of Dad and the legend himself, Danny Simmons. Pretty impressive watching him run a new state record of 4:01. The whole crowd was on their feet cheering - it was so dang cool. I loved running back in the day and I still freaking love watching it. Proud of Jack and the awesome season he has had. More to come from him for sure.
Last but not least - a few pics from Seth. A couple baptisms for his friends out there. He has been transferred to Amelia, Ohio and is zone leader. He's doing great - living the dream. Well - that's it for now. I promise blogs are about to get a lot better with summer coming up quick, and I can't wait!
