Back to work
Ive definitely been back to work for a couple weeks now, but this was my first four day week plus day shifts so you could say I was exhausted this week. It was a good week though with a lot of sweet, sweet patients and a good ole federal holiday (Juneteenth) that brought about extra pay and a chill no admission day.
Wednesday was my 8 hour shift. I packed my church clothes and temple bag and headed straight on up north after getting off at 1530. I didn't realize how north Brigham city really was, but it was still good to attend another temple.
Me leaving work an hour early (I sacrificed an hour of holiday pay). I had discharged all my patients by 1pm. After that I did a whole lot of nothing - getting some mandatory education done, looking at emails, sitting outside in the sun and lastly scrolling instagram and watching Netflix. Lots of really necessary stuff. Since it was Juneteenth we had no surgeries scheduled and even though the ER was fairly busy we didn't get anyone admitted to us. So finally at 5:45pm I told my charge nurse I was going home.
Friday morning I headed back out on the bonneville shoreline trail - this time I didn't biff it. I actually didn't even trip once. this allowed me to explore a little bit more of the trail. I ran 6 miles and it was a beautiful morning. Getting my trail legs back one run in the mountains at a time. The rest of Saturday was spent in Logan, UT...
Madi was kind enough to make a little day trip out of it with me. She went to Utah state and therefore she showed me around town. Our first stop was Angie's for lunch. It's "where the locals eat" and it was actually really good. Then we went to campus where I took a picture on this famous spot. Definitely not an Aggie but maybe the few people on campus (that saw me take this picture) thought I was an incoming freshmen. Thank goodness Im not.
Then off to the temple. A great session. It's interesting going to so many temples and seeing how everything is run. The inside of this temple was definitely old and there were a few things that just seemed odd, but thats ok.
Before heading home we did a little river walk.
A super fun day and glad Madi was willing to do it with me.
I started out Saturday with another good run, an oil change then straight to the lake with Karee. As we approach June 24th Ive had multiple people ask me what my plans are... my response "work" I mean I am an adult and most adults work on Tuesdays. So Saturday was spent somewhat celebrating my birthday with the people that care enough about me to want to celebrate me turning 26. Karee is the most thoughtful person you'll ever meet and therefore she took me paddle boarding. In reality we just paddle to a quieter part of the lake and then just float, layout and talk. Its great.
After that we headed to seven brothers for lunch/dinner. Ive been dreaming of the deep bleu so thats what I got. Then relived Hawaii and got some snocones for dessert. Honestly a perfect summer day. Both Karee and I are so very busy, but Im glad when we can hangout every now and then.
To end this perfect summer day Dremma (the other people who care about me enough to want to celebrate my birthday) invited me to Loyly a new sauna/ cold plunge place in provo. Drew was thoughtful enough to know that I enjoy doing this and I also thinks very interested in trying it for himself so it was a super fun night. One perk to this place was there was multiple temperature ranges of tubs to cold plunge. anywhere from really 40 to 60 degrees so it was funny seeing who could stay in the coldest the longest (I think I won). By the end of the night drew was hooked and was really debating getting a membership. Anyways - a good good weekend with some of my favorite people. A very chill Sunday today which has been lovely. I started this blog earlier but then took a nap from 4pm to 6pm so now Im finishing it and hopefully I can get back to bed soon. Big week coming up so stay tuned!
