Alright alright - this week was back to real life (booo) I miss Hawaii and am definitely ready to go back, but this week was still a good one. As much as I despise living in northern utah, I actually somewhat look forward to staying up here for more than just one week at a time. It's nice to be able to have some normalcy, to buy groceries and not have to worry about packing a bag for stg or anywhere else. And I guess I have realized I don't really hate living up here in the summer, it's just the other 9 months of the year. Anyways - back to work this week. I worked my last set of night shifts for the foreseeable future. I think it was a busier week with lots of co-workers on vacation, but honestly I don't even remember so nothing too crazy happened. Im still on break from school, but working hard (and paying a lot of money) to find my clinical placements for my last 6 months of school. Im to the point Im ready to just get'er done. I have very much enjoyed this break though that's for sure. Thursday was my first day off and I spent it with Jesse. With her busy flight attendant schedule and my crazy schedule we very rarely hangout, but I love when we can find a day or even just a few hours of overlap to hang out. Well we got lucky this week and had almost a full day of partying. I woke up after only 4 hours of sleep and headed to the pool at her new townhome. We hangout there for a little bit then tried a new Hawaiian place for lunch. Pretty decent food. Then that night we went to the Springville carnival.

It was janky as ever. We paid 20 bucks for some tickets to get us on rides except for the fact that we waited in line for the ferris wheel and the carnival closed right after so we literally paid 20 bucks for a dang ferris wheel ride. Low key ticked. We were up next for the sizzler type ride and the dude just says "closed" and waves us away. Kind of a bust. We also saw Chase Roberts and we very high key stalked him for a second haha. Happy to report he is even better looking in real life and sad to report he was with a girl. Oh well - still easy on the eyes.
Ended the night at zeppes. Jesse got a call at 12:15 am (we were watching a movie) that she was getting called in to work and had to report to the airport by 0645 am. Poor Jess got probably 4 hours of sleep before three full days of flying. She was on call but we were hoping she wouldn't get called in - sucks for us.

I'm still on night shift sleep schedule therefore my run on Friday didn't happen till 1pm when it was 95 outside. Decided I wanted to find a good trail so I looked on maps and drove a quick 10 minutes to the bonneville shoreline trail. I was such a fun, pretty trail overlooking the valley and the draper temple (you could see literally all the temples in the valley). I was wearing these sunglasses and about the two mile mark I went through some trees which shaded the trail. Well I think the sunglasses just made everything dark enough to where I did not see the root sticking out of the ground. I kicked it and went flying. Full on super-manned it. I said a bad word and looked up to see if anyone had just seen me biff it - luckily no one was around so I hopped up and laughed at the damage I had done. I think over the last few years of not running trails (not running at all) Ive lost my skill and technique for jumping around the trail and avoiding falling. Oh well... Im excited to get back on that trail and go a little further.

I got home and realized how much dirt I was covered in.
My leg the next day - my calf, knee, hip and shoulder are all pretty bruised to where I can't sleep on my left side. I don't think in all my highschool/college running Ive ever biffed it that hard. I think of one time where I scraped up my knee, but that's about it. I guess Im just some old lady now with slower reflexes haha.
Friday night Madi and I went and saw a new movie then headed to the point of the mountain to watch the paragliders (is that what they're called??) and the sunset.
Makes me want to skydive again. Will definitely be coming to this spot more often, it was so cool.

Lastly - the Vernal Temple! Ok so I was thinking - is it lame of me to visit new temples just to say Ive been there? I mean it really does me no good to visit all the UT temples. Ive just always enjoyed checking things off lists and doing new things so honestly that's why I made it a goal - really just for fun and yes just to say Ive done it. But as I spent 6 hours traveling to and from vernal on Saturday I thought a lot. I am very blessed to be surrounded by so many temples. There are literally 10 temples (11 once Lindon is done) within 30 minutes of my house here in Bluffdale. TEN! So why the heck am I driving 3 hours one way to do the same ordinance just in a different temple? Well Im not sure, but I always think about my time in Thailand. I remember one of the sacrament meetings we attended one of the speakers talked about her experience going to the temple. Their closest temple (back then) was Hong Kong or Taiwan. Which was multiple days of travel and sometimes saving up for years to make it there. That makes a 6 hour round trip seem wimpy. Anyways - I also started thinking about how it feels more special to be in the temple when the sacrifice is made. Its great to be able to on a whim just drive to the temple in 10 minutes, but it was really cool to plan this day trip out, set aside time and really think about what I was doing. Yes, Im selfish and the reason I did it was to cross it off the list, but in reality I couldve done so many other things with my Saturday, but instead I dedicated it to going to the temple. We have it really easy in UT, that's for sure, but I admire the people who HAVE to constantly sacrifice so much to attend the temple. It's really impressive and I think we should all be willing to sacrifice a little more for our Savior and Father in Heaven. So, is it crazy that I passed probably 10 temples on my way to vernal? Yes. But I enjoyed it. Gave me perspective and made me appreciate my blessings and the opportunity it is to be in the temple. Well that wraps up a good week. But wait I guess I'll mention - Jack and Dad visited Seth in Ohio this week.

I definitely cried when Dad sent us the video of their reunion. The count down is on for Jacks farewell and Im dreading it if I'm being honest. I don't think Ive ever not wanted one of my brothers to leave so bad haha.

And just like that the count down for Seth to come home is also underway - a little over a month. Crazy how time flies and how everyone just has to grow up. Speaking of growing up - I also don't like to see my grandparents or parents grow up, but today mom turned 49. Sheesh. And it's father's day so shoutout to the greatest parents. I literally walk around everyday in life knowing that I have the best parents. But like really I feel like all my friends and people in my circle also know that my parents are the best. There is like no question about it. I hope you guys know how much I (and the boys) love and appreciate all you do for us. Even though we suck and give you nothing in return. So Happy birthday Mom and happy father's day Dad! Who knows where Id be in life without you.
